- A4 White stock card
- Aluminium foil
- Heavy box cardboard
- Black A4 stock card
- Blue and yellow acrylic paint
- Cotton tips
- Oil pastels
The first step is to create the sky. Take the cardboard and cut it so it is roughly the size of the A4 white card and cover it with Al foil.
Drip some different shades of blue onto the al foil. Using the cotton tip, swirl the blue paint around to make some waves and circles.
Next, put some blobs of yellow onto the blue. This will represent the stars. Use another cotton tip to make them into circles.
Take the white card and gently place it on top. Smooth it down and slowly peel it off, this is the background of your picture. Put it aside to dry.
On the black card draw the foreground scene of the picture: the town and the grass clump. You can bring up a picture of the painting as a reference.
Draw this in with the oil pastels and cut it out.
Once the background is dry, glue the town in the shadows down at the bottom of the night sky and you are finished with your mixed-media picture of “The Starry Night” by Van Gogh.
