- A4 coloured card
- PVA blue
Take a container and scissors on a walk around your yard or neighbourhood to collect a variety of colourful flowers, different shaped leaves, twigs (curved sticks are best) and nuts.
Return to your work station, and lay out your A4 card in portrait view. Use some of your curved sticks to make the chin and jaw line for your face.
You may want to draw a basic face shape on your card first in very light pencil to make it easier to make the face shape.
Keep adding your collected materials to your face. Play around with how a certain leaf or flower looks, then move it somewhere else if it doesn’t fit the face shape.
Use your scissors to cut leaves to make a smiling or curved mouth shape, as well as almond or football shaped eyes. Also cut 2 small circles out of a different coloured leaf to be the centre of the eyes.
If you’re happy with your face, glue everything down firmly with PVA glue. Use a black pen to draw the pupils in the centre of the eyes. Draw any other detail onto the card with your pen, or leave your image natural.
Place your portrait in a frame, hang it on your wall, and watch how it dries and changes over time.
