  • A4 white card
  • A4 red card
  • Red or orange tissue paper
  • Black card
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Paint brush
  • Water bowl
  • Fine black pen
  • Black Sharpie
  • Glue stick
  • Sticky tape
  • Safety pins
  • Green pipe cleaners
  • Warm coloured oil pastels
  • Warm watercolour paints
  • Various sized circle shapes
Step 1

On the A4 white and red card trace a mixture of different sized circles using circular objects from around the house. Trace 4-5 white circles, and 1-2 red circles. Also trace 2-4 tissue paper circles, then cut all of the circles out.

Step 2

On the white and red circles draw radiating circles on each circle using the fine black pen.

Step 3

Trace over the pen lines with the warm coloured oil pastels. Use a mixture of colours on each circle.

Step 4

Paint each circle with a mixture of the warm watercolour paints. On the red circles, use orange, yellow and pink to make these circles stand out.

Step 5

While the paint dries. Fold the tissue paper circles in half, and feather cut (lots of short cuts close together) around the open edges of the tissue paper.  Open the tissue paper circles out again.

Step 6

Now, it’s time to put your flowers together. Start with your largest circles first, then layer a smaller circle on top each time. Add the tissue paper circles in to add extra texture. You should be able to make 2 or 3 flowers. Once you’re happy with the combination of circles, glue them all together.

Step 7

To finish off your flowers you may want to cut a tiny black card circle and feather cut it. Glue in the centre of each flower, or use a black pen to draw the centre flower detail on.

Step 8

Now you can either add a pipe cleaner stem by taping it onto the back of each flower, or tape a safety pin to the back of each flower to make them into badges.

Step 9

Stick you flowers in your window in honour of Anzac day, or wear your badge proudly on the 25th of April.
