How to draw a dragon
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Black marker
  • Optional:
  • Watercolour paint
  • Tub of water
  • Paint brush
  • OR: colouring pencils
Step 1

Using a pencil, draw a big oval in the middle of the paper and a small circle diagonally above the oval.

Step 2

Draw 8 vertical lines from the base of the oval, to make the dragons legs. You can then draw claws at the end of each leg.

Step 3

Join the circle and oval with curved lines to make the neck, and draw a tail at the right side of the oval. Add a triangle shape at the end of the tail.

Step 4

Draw two long triangle shapes at the top of the circle and an oval shape extending from the bottom of the circle which will be the dragon’s snout.

Step 5

Add some big wings to the top of the oval body using lots of arched and curved lines.

Step 6

Erase overlapping lines and draw some eyes, a nose, and a mouth onto the dragons face.

Step 7

Outline the dragon using the black marker.

Step 8

Outline the dragon using the black marker.

You can then paint or colour your dragon, cut it out, or add some background items, such as clouds and a pile of gold! Enjoy!
