The paper plate will be used for the base of the wreath. Cut the inner plate circle out leaving the rim as the wreath.
Next, cut the egg cups out from the egg carton. The long cone shaped ones can be used for smaller flowers as well. Shape into flowers using the scissors cutting down towards the bottom of the cup to create flower petals. Depending on your child’s age, you may want to pre cut the flowers for them. Using the leftover scraps, and the long strip where the egg carton closes, cut out some leaf shapes as well.
Paint all of the egg cup flowers red and a dot of either dark blue or black in the middle. Paint the leaf shapes green. Allow to dry which won’t take long.
Paint the paper plate wreath any colour. Set aside to dry.
It is time to glue all the poppies onto your wreath circle. PVA glue works best for this but will take a little longer to dry. There is no right or wrong way to glue them on. Start by gluing your leaves down in a few bunches around the wreath. Next glue the flowers on top of the leaves, and then fill in the gaps.
Have fun and once completely dry hang it on your door and let your neighbourhood admire your flower wreath ready for Anzac day.
