- A4 white stock card
- Scape card pieces
- Black marker
- Coloured pencils or pens
On the A4 page measure out 4 strips spaced roughly 6 cm apart, they will be 7 cm long and 1.5 cm wide.
Measure the length (which will be the length the puppet will wrap around your finger) on your own finger – you may need it shorter or longer.
On the scrap card, draw some circles; you can use a lid to trace around, measuring it on the page first to make sure it won’t be too big for the little bugs. Add wings for the butterfly to one circle, the lady bug will stay the same, make some petals for the flower keeping in the circle and the bee will have some small love heart wings.
Once you are happy with the bugs you have drawn, fold them in half and cut them out while they are still folded. This is to get a symmetrical shape.
Now you have your templates made, line them up at the ends of the strips on the white card tracing one half of the bug on each end making sure the wings are facing the same way.
Colour and decorate the bugs with little faces, dots and strips. Cut the shapes out with the long strip attached. Cut a slit at each end on opposite sides about half way along where the bug edge is.
To join the two halves of the bug together you will wrap it around your finger and slide the two slits together and the bug should stay. Have fun!
